Interview Questions – Strength and Weaknesses – Perth Resume Writers (Part 1)
Hey, Sal here again one of Perth’s Resume Writers. Thank you for dropping by and taking the time to read this blog post.
I always get asked on how to answer the ‘strengths and weakness’ interview question. I myself find odd for interviewers to ask this questions as it really does not hold any form of weight. I would rather they phrase it in a situation or an achievement and in a form of specificity.
But if you do get asked this question, here are a few tips on how I would prepare.
Know Thyself
First, I would assess my personality or understand myself. How do I this? A personality test obviously (lols). By knowing yourself you will know how to answer the strength and weakness question in your own character or flow. What this means is you do not have to ‘sell yourself’. I really hate that when a career coach or recruiter says ‘ You have to sell yourself’. How do you sell yourself if you have never sold anything before. Unless if you are in sales and a good salesman. It is even harder for an introverted person to ‘sell himself’.
So here is personality test that is Free, yes Free you could take:
My Genius Test by Wealth Dynamics. I like this particular test as it is not very long to take and it splits your personality into 4 different personalities or ‘Genius Type’ as they would call it.
- Dynamo – This personality is sort of a half creative and star personality. So it is someone who has high attention to detail but also likes some attention. These would be people like, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Richard Branson and so on. Typical creative people who have so many ideas and cannot stop thinking but are not fully extroverted.
- Blaze – Someone like me lols. Loud personality, very extroverted and loves people. We are not entirely good with detail but rather focus on the big picture. Typical business or pop icons would be, Jack Welsh (ex-CEO of GE), Steve Balmer (Bill Gates right-hand man and ex-CEO of Microsoft), Sheryl Sandberg (COO of Facebook), Meg Whitman (ex-CEO of eBay) and so on.
- Tempo – Someone who is half extroverted and half introverted. This personality is not particularly good on the ideas side of things but rather better with project management and deal making. Typical celebrities would be Donald Trump, Rupert Murdoch, Don King and so on.
- Steel – Typically an introverted person. Very high level of detail but very shy with people. Popular figures you could associate a ‘Steel’ personality are Mark Zuckerberg, Warren Buffett, Ingvar Kamprad (founder of IKEA) and so on.
Stay tuned for the next post where I show you how to apply these personality traits to answering the Strength and Weakness interview questions. But first, do the test and find out what Genius type are you.
